In the past week, there has been no mistaking Melbourne City and their urgence for supremacy in the A-League. The new man at the helm is former Yokohama F. Marinos manager Erick Mombaerts.
Mombaerts may finally bring some pride to this club which for years has struggled with low crowds and underwhelming players.
The Tim Cahill experiment was a complete failure and failed to live up to the hype. Perhaps if City had a A-League side after the conclusion of the 2006 FIFA World Cup, it would of had a better chance to succeed.
But this is 2019. A whole new ball game.

This needs to change.
City did make their first signing this week and to be fair, it’s an impressive one. K-League Team of the Season defender Richard Windbichler. Windbichler joins from Ulsan Hyundai and has put pen to paper on a 2 year deal till 2020-2021.
This is a good step in the right direction but the City faithful wait with more anticipation.
Your move City.
