Manchester United have confirmed their second signing for the summer transfer window after signing right back Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace, on a 5 year deal for a fee of £50 million euros.

Wan-Bissaka came through the Crystal Palace academy starting with the U18s squad under Patrick McCarthy. Although not making his full fledged first team debut until Febuary 2018, he made a good impression on the Eagles fans early and last season he was voted the fan’s player of the year and also the player’s player of the year. Not bad for a 21 year old!

Making 39 appearances across all competitions, he found himself on the scoresheet 4 times and even earned a cap with the England U21s at the UEFA European championship for his age bracket.

I can see Wan-Bissaka getting needed game time and making a good start with the club, but with the departure of Antonio Valencia to Ecuadorian side L.D.U. QuitoI, his competition for the main right back position could still be tested with the already rising talents of Timothy Fosu-Mensah breathing down his neck, throw in Matteo Darmian as well and the lad could really have to earn his spot in the first team.

That being said, I can still see Wan-Bissaka making a huge impact to Manchester United and this is a fantastic defensive signing, one that they have really needed for some time.

Only time will tell if Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s gamble will truely pay off and possibly lead to a extensive career at the club.
