Brazil will be hoping to win their first international trophy and 12 years when they host
Peru in the Copa America final at the Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro.
Brazil advanced to the final after defeating arch-rivals Argentina 2-0 in an incredibly
solid showing of both defense and attack. As a result, Brazil are now the top scorers of
the tournament (which is very impressive considering the loss of Neymar) and are yet to
concede a goal after 5 games.
Peru shocked previous winners Chile in a 3-0 victory that earned them a place in their
first Copa final since 1975 as they look to win their first ever International title.
Edison Flores and Paolo Guerrero will be looking to continue their goal-scoring form but
they’ll have to be as lethal as ever when coming up against Alisson, who has kept 9
straight clean sheets for club and country.
Brazilian manager Tite is likely to keep the same XI that defeated Argentina with the
only probable change being Atletico Madrid’s Filipe Luis for Juventus’ Alex Sandro.
Firmino, Jesus, Coutinho and Everton will start as Brazil’s attack. Peru is expected to
make no changes with Jefferson Farfan still out injured.
I don’t see a way Peru can win this game, Brazil have been too good in all areas of the
pitch and will make it an absolute struggle for Los Incas to have a chance. Last time
these two met was in the group stage with Brazil winning 5-0 and I can see this game being
similar.
Prediction: Brazil 3-0 Peru
